Chief Executive Officer

Salary: Up to £55k per annum.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Deadline: 12 noon, Wed 8 June.

We are seeking an exceptional person with the vision, ambition and strategic skills to lead the Lawrence Batley Theatre through this next phase of development and build on our history of 28 years of inspiring local communities to engage with the arts. The successful applicant will come into a strong programme, a high-performing team, a dedicated Board, and a secure financial base. This is a unique opportunity to shape and grow a theatre that genuinely strives to offer something to everyone in the diverse communities of Huddersfield, Batley and Dewsbury in West Yorkshire.

We are looking for someone with experience of:
• Senior management and leadership experience in an arts organisation.
• Accountability for the financial viability of the organisation.
• Managing change in a complex and dynamic environment.
• Demonstrable track record of responding to unexpected events with speed and agility.
• Working with a non-executive Board of Trustees.
• Working with a range of theatre makers and companies.
• Managing major stakeholder relationships and partnerships.
• Experience of strategy development and implementation.
• Experience of community engagement.
• Experience of operational delivery of productions to budget.

And knowledge and skills including:
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
• Excellent knowledge of the arts sector.
• Knowledge of audiences and how to develop them.
• Entrepreneurial and innovative approach.
• Experience of fundraising strategies and approaches.
• Financial acumen – able to create budgets and write accurate reports.
• Demonstrable commitment to inclusion and diversity.
• Demonstrable understanding of marketing strategies.

Board Trustees

Salary: This is a voluntary position but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. 
Hours: Trustees are expected to attend six Board meetings per year including the Annual General Meeting. In addition, there will be performances, fundraising and cultural events that you will be invited to attend.
Deadline: 12 noon, Fri 3 June

We're looking for exceptional individuals to join our Board of Trustees. Our Board has overall responsibility for compliance with regulations, good practice and the long-term sustainability and success of the Lawrence Batley Theatre. We welcome anyone with a passion for arts, culture and the theatre to come on board and help us change the future.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience in the following areas, Community Engagement and Participation, Finance and Business Operations and local knowledge of Kirklees and West Yorkshire.

Freelance Marketer

Salary: Up to £200 a day.
Hours: Expected work level is 2 days a week over 12 weeks, start date mid June.
Deadline: 12 noon, Mon 30 May. Meetings for shortlisted candidates will be arranged for 1 June.

We are looking for a freelance marketer with events experience to plan and deliver our Summer in the Courtyard campaign. Summer in the Courtyard is now in its third year. Each Friday evening and Saturday from Fri 24 June – Sat 3 September we showcase live music and a little theatre from local and touring artists in our enclosed outdoor courtyard.

This year we want to continue building on its popularity with the people of Huddersfield through an engaging marketing campaign.

Casual Visitor Experience Assistants

Salary: Living Wage applies (currently £8.36 / £8.91 per hour depending on age)
Hours: Casual as and when required. We expect your availability to be no less than two shifts per week including weekends and evenings.

We are looking for a dynamic individuals with a passion for customer service to join our busy Visitor Experience Team on a casual basis.  

The recruited individuals will work as part of a team to ensure the successful operation of bars and catering, kiosk, box office and room hire events, with focus on high standards and excellent customer service.

We are looking for:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience of working within a team.
  • Positive outlook.
  • Must be at least 18 years old due to licensing laws.
