Young Company

Lawrence Batley theatre Young Company tutor with Young Company members

Young Company: a home for our creative young people.

We learn from professional theatre practitioners: directors/actors/movers.

We embrace the bold and creative ideas of everyone.

We create exciting performances.

We watch and are inspired by professional productions.

Our Young Company classes for ages 6-16, run weekly during term time. Each term our passionate Young Company tutors  focus on a specific theme, inspired by professional productions performed on our stage. In the Autumn we focus on our pantomime title; in the Spring we are inspired by a show in our programme; and in the Summer we work towards a full Young Company performance in our Courtyard.

Our classes are very relaxed and welcoming, giving young people an all-around creative experience. Different methods, techniques and ideas are explored during sessions, resulting in a collaborative sharing of work being created to share with family and friends at the end of term.

Young people learn from professional theatre practitioners with different expertise who will rotate each term for groups to benefit from the different wealth of experience. Participants will gain theatre skills along with interpersonal skills, learning to work with others and make friends.

Our groups and classes are:

Stage Door – for ages 6-8, Saturdays, 10:30am – 12pm

Studio 1 – for ages 9-11, Thursdays, 5pm – 7pm

Studio 2 – for ages 12-16, Wednesdays, 5pm – 7pm

Both our Spring and Autumn term run for 10 weeks, and our Summer term runs for 12 weeks including a rehearsal and exciting opportunity for all of Young Company to perform together.
