What to Expect on Your First Visit to Lawrence Batley Theatre

Coming to the theatre for the first time can be exciting and maybe a little bit nerve-wracking too. But don’t worry. We’re here to help you feel welcome, relaxed, and ready to enjoy the show. Here’s what to expect when you visit us.

When Should I Arrive?

Our doors are open from 90 minutes before shows, Box Office will be open for any queries or ticket collections.

Our bar opens 60 minutes before the start of the show. Feel free to come along to grab a drink or pick up your tickets.

There’s often a friendly buzz around the building, and our team will be nearby if you have any questions, simply look out for anyone wearing a light blue or dark blue lanyard.

We usually open the doors to our theatre spaces around 30 minutes before the show starts. This gives you plenty of time to find your seat and settle in before the magic begins!

What Do I Do With My Ticket?

If you booked online, your ticket might be on your phone. You can show it to a member of our team when you arrive. There’s no need to print your e-tickets.

If you need to collect your ticket or you have any problems, you can head to the Box Office, which is just inside the main entrance next to the bar. Our friendly team will help you get everything sorted.

Our Box Office closes 30 minutes after the show has begun.

Where Will I Sit?

The seating layout varies depending on the show and space in the theatre. Our Main House is allocated seating with seat letters and numbers. Our Cellar Theatre is unallocated seating and offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

If there’s seat numbers, this will be included on your ticket and our stewards will help you find where you’re sitting.

You’re welcome to ask if you need support or prefer to arrive a little earlier to get settled.

Is There a Break?

Most shows have a short break in the middle, usually around 20 minutes. This is called an interval.

The interval is a good chance to stretch your legs, go to the toilet, or get a drink. There are toilets on every floor.

You can buy hot and cold drinks, snacks, and sweet treats from our kiosk and bar. You’re welcome to take your drink into the show with you, and you can also order your interval drinks in advance to save time.

If there is an interval, someone from our team will make an announcement to let you know when it’s time to go back into the show.

What Should I Wear?

There isn't a dress code at our theatre. Some people dress up, some come straight from work or in comfy clothes - come as you are.

The theatre is your space, and we want you to feel relaxed and welcome.

Can I Bring My Little Ones?

Children of all ages and their families are welcome in our theatre, especially for our pantomimes and family-friendly shows.

Children under 2 can sit on a parent or guardian’s lap free of charge and do not need a ticket, unless otherwise specified at booking. For safety reasons, this does not include the front rows of Tier 1 or Tier 2.

If you’re unsure whether a show is suitable for younger audiences, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to let you know.
