Autumn has arrived in Huddersfield, the school term is back in full swing, and many families are settling into their new routines.

But once the homework’s done and the nights start drawing in, there are still plenty of ways to keep little ones entertained. At Lawrence Batley Theatre, we’ve lined up a season bursting with family fun.

Here are the top kids activities in Huddersfield this autumn.

  1. Drama Classes for Kids in Huddersfield

Our Young Company is the perfect after-school activity for children who love stories, theatre and performing. Running throughout the autumn term, these drama classes give young people the chance to explore their creativity, grow in confidence and make new friends.

New for this term, we’re thrilled to launch Introducing Stage! The class is an exciting addition for our youngest performers aged four to five (and their grown-ups too). These fun, playful sessions use games and storytelling to gently introduce little ones to the magic of theatre.

Whether your child is just starting out or ready to take bigger creative steps, there’s a Young Company class to suit every age.

  1. Toddler Disco in Huddersfield

Get ready to groove and giggle as Dinky Disco returns this autumn! Specially created for under-fives and their parents, this daytime disco is sixty minutes of dancing, games and family fun in our Cellar Theatre.

Running one Friday each month, our Dinky Discos are all about introducing pre-schoolers to socialising in a fun and relaxed way. With an in-house DJ spinning the tracks and a dancer leading the moves, little ones can learn new steps, join in with games and most importantly, have a brilliant time. But it’s not just for the kids - these discos give parents the chance to connect too. Parenting young children can sometimes feel lonely, and Dinky Disco is designed to be as much about grown-ups finding their tribe as it is about toddlers burning off energy.

"We love the Dinky Disco! Happy mum happy baby right? Banging tunes, happy kids, non-stop dancing. We have a brilliant time every time we go. Kids are so well looked after and the staff are absolutely brilliant. Keep it coming!"

  1. Christmas Show for Families in Huddersfield

Alongside the return of Huddersfield’s favourite family pantomime on our main stage, our Cellar Theatre also comes alive this autumn with some festive fun for little ones, including...

A Town Called Christmas, a heart-warming theatre adventure for ages three and up. With music, laughter and plenty of sparkle, it’s the perfect Christmas show for families in Huddersfield.
