We are thrilled to announce that Sheards Chartered Accountants have raised over £3,000 for Lawrence Batley Theatre!
In 2023, after a company wide poll, the team at local Huddersfield firm Sheards picked us to be their Charity of the Year. After a year of fundraising, we are delighted to announce that Sheards have raised a total of £3,182.88.
The Charity of the Year partnership has seen the Sheards team running a host of fundraising events throughout the year. These have included a Quiz Night, a Curry Night, a Wine Tasting and The Great Sheards Bake Off! Company Director, Carolyn Atkinson took on a personal challenge and completed the Manchester Half Marathon raising and incredible £774!
As a registered charity (No. 510693) partnering with Sheards has helped to raise vital funds for our work with local people, both at the theatre and out in the community. Their support has helped us to share the message that we are a registered charity and has brought new audiences through our doors.

From pub quizzes to wine tasting events, bake offs and everything in between they have raised vital funds to support the theatre’s mission to be the creative heart of the community and engage with a wide range of people from Huddersfield right here on our doorstep.
"Being selected as charity of the year for 2023-24 was a huge honour, and alongside the money raised, Sheards have done a great deal to host events at the theatre, bring their partners and clients to see performances and use the spaces we have, and raise the profile of Lawrence Batley Theatre as a registered charity. Working with a charity of the year is a wonderful thing to do and we count ourselves as very lucky to have had the pleasure to get to know the friendliest accountants in town!"
