We are delighted to share our heartfelt thanks to Huddersfield BID for their generous £1,000 donation to Lawrence Batley Theatre, raised through the proceeds of their Urban Artist Charity Auction.
Earlier this year, Huddersfield Town centre came alive with creativity as 14 local artists were invited to create a piece of original artwork from three locations across Huddersfield Town centre. The event invited the public to get involved too, with people voting for their favourite pieces via the Hello Huddersfield App.
The competition culminated in a charity auction of the artworks, raising vital funds for our theatre.
Rosie Hinchliffe, Lawrence Batley Theatre Head of Development said “We are truly grateful to Huddersfield Bid for their continued support of Lawrence Batley Theatre. As a registered charity, their support helps us continue to bring world class shows to Huddersfield, champion outstanding home-grown talent and to be a welcoming place for our community.”
Sam Sharp, Huddersfield BID CEO said “We were delighted to present a cheque for £1,000 to Rosie Hinchliffe at Lawrence Batley Theatre, as a total of the donations made for the artwork created at our Urban Artist event in August. Our second year of delivering the event produced paintings of Lawrence Batley theatre, St. Peter's Gardens and the University of Huddersfield. Our aim was to appreciate and promote the town through the eyes and talents of some extremely passionate and skilled artists, highlight the beauty of our urban landscape and raise vital funds for Lawrence Batley Theatre. Huddersfield is very fortunate to have such an amazing space to enjoy the arts and cultural performances, with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Lawrence Batley is a crucial part of the cultural scene of Huddersfield. We look forward to working with the team in 2026.”
The Urban Artist Competition was a brilliant example of what can happen when creativity, collaboration and community come together. We would like to thank Huddersfield BID, the talented artists who took part, and everyone who voted, attended, and bid in the auction for making the event such a success.
