Join us for Our Freedom, a celebratory performance representing what freedom means to us.
Our Freedom: Then and Now, is a new programme of performances and events in arts centres and libraries across the UK to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Lawrence Batley Theatre is delighted to be one of the 60 venues around the UK taking part.
A specially commissioned poem by our Poet Laureate Simon Armitage has been the inspiration for us working with groups and artists across our community. Together they have created images, music, dance and drama to reflect what freedom means to them – both in 1945 and now in 2025.
Join us for this celebration where The Sikh Soldiers Organisation, Ukrainian Friendship Group, IASK (Immigration and Asylum Support Kirklees) and 6 Million Plus will be sharing their art and performances. You will also learn more about this exciting national project.
Our Freedom begins at 2pm.
This is a free event and there is no need to book, all are welcome.
Any donations received on the day will be donated to the Welcome Centre.
