The Pride Ball – In Rehearsals
2025 May 19Behind the sequins, sass and strut, something special is taking shape…
As Huddersfield gets ready to celebrate Pride on Sat 7 June, we’re preparing to throw open our doors for a dazzling night of dance, fashion, music and pure fabulousness at The Pride Ball.
A collaboration with the iconic House of Suarez and hosted by the trailblazing Rikki Beadle Blair, this all-ages event showcases Vogue and ballroom-inspired performance right here in the heart of Huddersfield.
What is the Pride Ball?
Think high fashion, fierce movement, and a whole lot of attitude. The Pride Ball is a celebration of queer joy and identity through movement, sound and style, all rooted in the tradition of Vogue.
Get a taste of the glamour with these magical moments from our 2021 digital Vogue Ball.
At The Pride Ball, expect UK Houses bringing their best to the runway alongside debut performances from an entirely new group formed of local LGBTQ+ stars and allies, Queen Street Collective. Right now, they’re deep in rehearsals…
Inside the Rehearsal Room
With rehearsals in full swing, the atmosphere is a blend of energy, excitement and collaboration. Under the expert guidance of our Creative Associate Keisha Hamilton, the group is learning the foundations of Vogue – a bold and expressive style that’s all about inclusion, confidence and empowerment.
Vogue is about telling stories without words, building confidence, and stepping into the spotlight as your full, authentic self. Whether Queen Street Collective are perfecting a dramatic pose or learning to walk with purpose, every session is packed with expression and pride.
Keisha said:
“The group have been working so hard, and the feeling in the room has been joyous. We wanted to create a unique opportunity for our community to get involved in and it's been great to support them in shaping a performance in a style that is completely new to them. I am so excited for audiences to see the local talent but also to experience a House of Suarez ball.”
Take a look at rehearsals as Darren Suarez – founder of the iconic House of Suarez – joined Queen Street Collective to share his expertise, energy and Vogue wisdom.
What is Vogue?
Emerging from the underground ballroom scene of 1960s Harlem in New York City, Vogue is a dance form created from the culture and creativity of LGBTQ+ communities. Blending poses, movement and flair, Vogue is a celebration of fierce self-expression and resilience.

Why It Matters
For many of our local performers, this is more than a show – it’s their first experience being part of a queer-led creative project. It’s an opportunity to connect, to be seen, and to celebrate Pride not just as a party, but as a powerful act of expression.
And for audiences? It’s a chance to cheer, celebrate and be part of something glittering, grounded, and gloriously queer.
Keep the Party Going at Kirklees Pride
Whether you’re dressed to slay, soaking up the sparkle, or cheering from the sidelines, this is your invitation to a night full of heart, sequins and the spirit of Pride.
