Dance Dhamaka

We’re excited to introduce Dance Dhamaka – a year-long celebration of South Asian dance at Lawrence Batley Theatre, bringing people together through rhythm, movement and the sheer joy of dancing.

Dhamaka means “blast” in Hindi, often used to describe something loud, thrilling and spectacular. And that’s exactly the spirit of Dance Dhamaka: a vibrant celebration of the power of dance to connect us all.

From Bhangra and Bollywood dance classes and Dhol drumming to ladies-only Bhangra Nights and a spectacular outdoor celebration bringing Bhangra together with a traditional Gaelic Ceilidh, there’s plenty to get excited about.

No dance experience needed, no particular tradition to know – just come along and join in! Dance Dhamaka is a chance to learn, connect and have fun, while sharing our cultures, heritage and stories through dance.
