Masterclass: Puppetry with Kathleen Yore (Odd Doll Puppetry)

Book

Our Masterclasses are an informal programme of workshops, designed to allow you to try out a variety of creative careers and skills with high-level professionals in the field. Whether it’s for career exploration, a new hobby or just general interest, all aged 16+ are welcome to come along.

Puppetry is truly magic. It captivates an audience’s imagination by allowing ordinary things to come to life and tell a story. In this workshop you will learn the basic principles of manipulation and have fun exploring all the possibilities of what a puppet can be, whether it’s an old newspaper or that funny looking cheese grater you found in the kitchen. Together we will also play with the beauty of moving figures so that by the end you feel inspired and invigorated to continue working with this incredible art form.

Kathleen Yore is a ridiculous person based in Slaithwaite who loves to make people feel wonderful and bring out their uniqueness. She is a puppet maker, performer, director and teacher, working up and down the UK for many wonderful companies. She is artistic director of, Odd Doll Puppetry, who have produced five ACE funded touring productions, the last two of which were awarded five stars. For 15 years she has also worked as a hospital clown doctor, specialising in laughter and play therapy.
