Sophie

Book
Picture of Lawrence Batley Theatre, which is a Georgian stone building set back behind a courtyard with wooden tables and benches, with blue umbrellas, under a blue cloudy sky in Huddersfield

Sophie is a one-woman auto-biographical play telling the story of Emily and her sister Sophie who has Down Syndrome.

The story begins at Sophie's 30th birthday party and then takes the audience back to Sophie's birth and their upbringing in Hull. The sisters were inseparable in childhood but cracks appeared in their teenage years. As peer opinion seemed more and more important, Emily struggled to cope with the attitudes and behaviour of others toward Sophie.

The play is a celebration of 30 years of Emily and Sophie's sisterhood. Dancing, laughter, Girl Power Hits, snogging and mischief. Come and join us!
