ABOUT LBT YOUNG COMPANY

Weekly Workshops

We have several styles of weekly workshops so there’s something for everyone. Our Stage Door Class is for children aged 6-8 and are designed to be an introduction to drama in a fun and supportive environment. Our Studio Classes are for 9-17 year olds with previous experience and a proven commitment to building on their existing skills. Entry to Studio Classes is by audition.

Developing Skills

LBT Young Company members develop confidence, team-building skills and social skills whilst also developing their abilities as performers. In our Stage Door group members learn basic drama skills in a fun and informal way whilst in our Studio groups, members learn advanced techniques in a more demanding environment.

Seeing Live Performance

Each term, Young Company members attend a professional production at the LBT. The performances that we see often inspire and inform the work that we produce with the groups during term time.

Creating Theatre

Our weekly workshop groups begin each term by developing confidence, learning techniques and exploring themes through a series of drama games and exercises. As the term progresses, our team of tutors help the groups to create their own pieces which are then performed for an invited audience at the end of term.

Other Performance Opportunities

As well as end-of-term sharings, we also offer our members a wide range of other opportunities to perform. Whether through Play-in-a-Weeks, festival performances, or main stage productions, we believe that the experience of working towards performance is invaluable for young people.

Young Company Tutors

Our team of Young Company tutors consists of a diverse group of experienced, inspiring, theatre professionals who have a range of specialisms. Each Young Company class is run by a Lead Tutor, an Assistant Tutor and a Volunteer, and we require that all our staff undergo a DBS check.

Fees

We aim to be affordable, and believe that all of our Youth Theatre workshops and projects offer excellent value for money. We offer a reduction on most of our fees to those with Kirklees Passports.

Summer 2018 Classes begin on 14th April!
