Harlem, 1987. Precious is living a life no one would want. Pregnant for the second time by her absent father, Precious (Sidibe) is forced to wait on her abusive mother. Despite this, she has reached the ninth grade with good marks. However she has an awful secret: she cannot read or write. Threatened with expulsion, Precious is offered the chance to transfer to an alternative school. There she begins a journey that leads to love and a new self-confidence. Winner of two Oscars, Lee Daniels’s Precious is based on the novel Push by Sapphire.
