A heart-warming and original Opera based on a Romanian folktale, The Enchanted Pig mixes up elements of a whole mass of fairytales to create a witty and gritty modern version that shows how princesses can surprise and how love can conquer all.

Jonathan Dove’s playful score brings the moon, the stars and the Milky Way to vivid musical life. Musicians give the production a recognisable sound which belies its bizarre and fantastical visual elements, perfectly accented by Alasdair Middleton’s wonderfully witty lyrics.

The Enchanted Pig was originally presented at the Young Vic in partnership with The Opera Group. This production has been co-produced with ROH2 at The Royal Opera House.
