Maureen is a plain, lonely woman in her early forties. Mag is her cantankerous, manipulative, ageing mother. Both locked in mutual destruction - it is not a knight in shining armour that enters, but a local bachelor who offers Maureen her first and possibly final chance of a loving relationship. Of course, with a mother like Mag the course of true love is not set to run smooth.
