English Premiere
Mid Wales Opera
Written by:
Giacomo Puccini
Sung In English. Translation by Amanda Holden. Accompanied by the Mid Wales Chamber Orchestra.

No opera can match the tragedy and sorrow of Puccini's MADAM BUTTERFLY.  Set in Japan at the turn of the century, this fated love story of an American naval lieutenant and his young Japanese bride inspired Puccini to write some of his most sublime and beautiful music.

From the rapturous love duet to the devastating One Fine Day, Puccini writes some of the most sumptuous music ever written for the opera stage; totally immersing his audience in the tragic story.

This timeless opera has influenced many works of art and formed the basis of Boublil and Schönberg's Miss Saigon.

Mid Wales Opera's much praised orchestral ensemble will conduct a superb cast from the national Opera companies.  A brand new production and an intimate, beautiful and heartrending experience.
