Anna says...

'My residency at The Lawrence Batley Theatre is giving me the opportunity to look at visual storytelling.

Inspired by the Imagine workshops that I have been doing here with children and their carers, I began to imagine the theatre from a child’s point of view. I started to create characters that live, work and play in the theatre. The characters are evolving slowly, beginning to suggest stories, plots and adventures. These characters and stories are inspired by workshops, traditional and contemporary story telling, theatre productions, theatre staff and other artists.

At the moment I am working two dimensionally with a variety of papers, using graphite pencils, mechanical and dip pen, ink, watercolour and coloured pencils.

There is a mysterious and illusive little character that seems to come and go from my images, giving us tantalizing glimpses… who or what can it be?  And where do they live?'
